Competitive & Market Intelligence
Vendor-by-vendor — Pharmetika, LifeFile, SiCompounding, PK, Fagron, Simplifi 797 — and where 1QRx wins.
A deep look at the compounding-focused platforms a pharmacy actually evaluates — Pharmetika, LifeFile, SiCompounding and three more — their products, USPs, models, and where each is strong or exposed. General retail/LTC systems are out of scope.
View source dossierThree lanes inside compounding
Native clouds built for the formulation workflow, a heritage compounding suite, and the compliance point tool. AI is the lane nobody has truly claimed yet.
Built ground-up for the compounding workflow (MFR → BR → release). Deepest formulation logic, modern cloud delivery.
Specialist software with deep scale, QA/QC and calculation engines — but on-prem heritage and thinner patient/provider surfaces.
Not a full PMS — USP 795/797/800 documentation layered alongside whatever system you run. A point tool with extra cost and login.
Six vendors, profiled
Each card: what it is, signature strength, and the exposed gap a challenger can exploit.
Cloud, API-first compounding system with a modular stack: ION (patient/provider engagement + AI Call Center) and ElectricLab (lab workflow). Graph-database batch/lot intelligence, EHR-integrated eRx with medication reconciliation.
The category leader. Cloud-first four-portal architecture (Pharmacy, Provider, Patient, Sales). Pioneered compound e-prescribing via Surescripts; EPCS out of the box; per-practice custom formulary.
Dedicated compounding platform — "intake to shipping in one solution." Built on the Claris/FileMaker stack. Pharmacist-loved for deep formulation, batch QC and verification flows.
A complete compounding suite: scale integrations, QA/QC compliance, compounding calculations and formulation management. A specialist's specialist with a long compounding heritage.
The compounding API/excipient giant moved into software — a Feb 2025 platform purpose-built for 503A that pairs compounding workflow with patient-outcomes tracking. Supply-chain adjacency is its unfair advantage.
Not a PMS — a dedicated USP <795>/<797>/<800> compliance system: SOPs, environmental monitoring, competency, BUD and audit-ready documentation. Often bolted alongside a primary PMS.
Every incumbent won as a system-of-record with portals. None has truly claimed the AI lane. 1QRx's bet: an agent workforce under pharmacist supervision + a prescriber Chrome Extension inside the EHR — turning the field's biggest unclaimed gap into the wedge.

Where each vendor really competes
Compounding depth on one axis, modern platform (cloud · AI · API · EHR) on the other. The top-right is wide open.
Modern SaaS, but a USP-compliance point tool — not a dispensing platform.
Only Pharmetika & a brand-new Fagron sit here → 1QRx's target quadrant.
General retail / LTC systems were removed from scope.
Deep formulation, but trailing on AI / EHR-embedded / UX.
Five takeaways for the build
Only Pharmetika shows real AI (a call-center module). No incumbent has an agent workforce. This is the clearest white-space.
Modular, API-first, EHR-integrated with med-rec, graph-DB batch tracking. The most architecturally modern incumbent — closest to 1QRx's posture.
Prescriber lock-in + rep attribution is its real defensibility — not technology. Match the portal, then beat it on AI and EHR-embedding.
An ingredient supplier shipping software (Feb 2025) with an outcomes layer can bundle supply + software. Watch for ecosystem lock-in.
Simplifi 797 proves pharmacies pay separately for USP compliance. Bundling it natively removes a line item and a login.
No vendor sits in "modern + deep-compound + AI." That's the quadrant 1QRx builds toward — and the reason this dossier exists.
